If going by bicycle be prepared for a very long and steep climb out of Warminster and occasionally potentially sharp loose stone surface). If walking there bear in mind that there is no footpath and so you will be walking on the road. You must not leave the road as there is unexploded ordnance.

ROAD CLOSED AS AT EASTER 2026 (What3Words ///meaty.ears.blame ) (Google Maps) Though the road starts out fine this is a great way of destroying your car, but often taken by 4x4, the road condition is very poor, deeply rutted - deeper than normal car clearance, and muddy. To get to Imber village head north off the A36, opposite the turning to Heytesbury, and keep going past East Hill Farm. You must not leave the road as there is unexploded ordnance.
